Dowsing chakras with a pendulum – Simon Altman, BHSc (Acu)

Pendulums are one of the tools used within Esoteric Acupuncture.  They are often used as tools for inner growth and in various spiritual healing modalities.  A pendulum can come in many forms, simply, it is a weighted object at the end of a string or chain.  Traditionally jewellery such as rings or pendants were attached to a chain and used for dowsing, however dowsing has also been performed using rods and a range of other tools.

Today pendulums can be made out of a wide variety of materials ranging from wooden to metal or crystal to rock.  It is fairly common to find beautifully carved and faceted crystal pendulums with a chain already attached and ready for use.

Dowsing has been used historically to locate lost objects, discover water, uncover minerals or metals and to help make decisions. There are many methods that you can use for dowsing with a pendulum and these can range from simple usage to more elaborate rituals however the simplest method it to hold the string of the pendulum and ask your higher self a question.

There are a few simple steps to use a pendulum:

  1. Clear your mind and centre yourself.
  2. Hold the pendulum, relax and connect/tune in to the pendulum
  3. Ask your question or begin your dowsing by holding the pendulum over each chakra.

Pendulums swing in four main ways, forwards and backwards, side to side, clockwise and anticlockwise and represent primary answers of yes, no or maybe/unknown.  Depending on the system of dowsing you are using, the individual dowser and the method you are using can change which signal you get for yes, no or maybe.   Before you begin, work out which direction is ‘yes’ for you, which direction is a ‘no’ and finally a ‘unknown’.  A common pattern would be clockwise for yes, anti-clockwise for no and vertical/horizontal swings for unknown.

Within an Esoteric Acupuncture session pendulum dowsing is used to determine which of your body’s chakras are “closed” and out of alignment or “open” and in alignment.   Dowsing the chakras is one of the first steps within Esoteric Acupuncture to discover which chakras are out of alignment.  The practitioner will hold the pendulum over each chakra to see if it spins clockwise or anti-clockwise and note down how many chakras need work or correction.  Once that has been established you can choose specific balancing patterns to open and return all the chakras back into equilibrium.  This could be a specific Chakra Balancing pattern or a special Esoteric Acupuncture New Encoding pattern such as the Esoteric Heart Shao Yin Pattern below:

After dowsing the chakras and choosing the appropriate Esoteric Acupuncture patterns specific tuning forks are chosen and used over the body.  These relate to the individual chakras that are out of alignment and help restore balance and influence finer energies using sounds as healing.  Once the Esoteric Acupuncture patterns have realigned the chakras and this has been checked with a pendulum a discussion about the significance of each chakra is useful to help determine if there is a specific cause or reason why certain chakras may go out of alignment regularly.  This could be something as simple as self-censorship and holding back expressing oneself causing issues with the throat chakra.  Following on from this Tarot is used for direction and guidance at the end of every session at Mornington Chinese Medicine.

Simon Altman has had the wonderful opportunity to train personally with Mikio Sankey the developer of Esoteric Acupuncture and completed all three levels of Esoteric Acupuncture training.  Simon uses tarot as an adjunct to give direction, purpose and meaning to the session as well as Reiki, Astrology and sound healing.

Esoteric Acupuncture is a style of heart centred acupuncture that works on the deeper levels of the body to promote balance and direction in life.  It can be used as maintenance or a tune up and incorporates a more spiritual esoteric acupuncture pattern on the back of the body, then a balancing esoteric acupuncture pattern on the front of the body, which can then be combined with a standard Chinese Medicine to help with core issues.
