Hi,
I’m Andrea, the only Canadian at Mornington Chinese Medicine. For those of you who have met me, you probably figured that out by the funny way I say “about”. I’ve lived in Melbourne for almost 3 years with my husband and my dog. My husband is Australian and my dog is Taiwanese, but that’s another story.
Some of my favourite conversations with my patients are about travelling and their experiences abroad. If you’ve been to the West coast of Canada, then you can agree, it’s a very beautiful place. My love of the outdoors drives many of my weekend plans. You can find me in the Grampians every couple of weeks, climbing boulders and camping in style. Getting outside and immersing myself in nature is what keeps me grounded and helps me find balance in this crazy world we live in.
One of the things that lead me to practicing Chinese medicine is Yoga, which is why one of my areas of interest is musculoskeletal work. It’s quite a broad area and commonly attracts conditions where pain is the defining feature. I get really jazzed when people stride into the clinic after they may have shuffled in the week before. Like yoga, Chinese medicine addresses the subtle energies and influences that cause imbalances in the body. For this reason I’ll often move the treatment table aside and lay on the ground to demonstrate exercises and stretches, that look suspiciously like yoga postures, as part of your treatment plan. On the scale of young grasshopper to master of Chinese medicine, I’m still the grasshopper, but if there’s one thing being a yogi has taught me,
“Practice and all is coming.”

As the newest member of the MCM team, I feel completely at home. Working with such an experienced, supportive group of Chinese medicine practitioners has given me the confidence I needed to own what I do. The MCM vibe is all about helping people be the best version of themselves. The same can be said of the relationships amongst the practitioners.
Andrea’s areas of focus are:
- Musculoskeletal & pain management
- Chinese massage (tuina)
