“Our modern day world is full of pitfalls - stress, depression and anxiety are ubiquitous - and each individual, household, and family need support and guidance to navigate this terrain. ”

ROB WILKIE

Dr Rob Wilkie – Registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Practitioner, BHSc

Robert finished his training in Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China, after finishing his double degree in Chinese Medicine and Human Biology with RMIT. He entered his Chinese Medicine training through his passions of martial arts (Gongfu), qi gong and meditation, and a history of academia in Buddhist and Daoist thought.

From being profoundly affected by multiple suicides from mental health struggles in the Melbourne community, Robert, although working as an environmental engineer over 10 years ago, resolved that he must retrain in order to work with people to help address modern-day pain and suffering. Although very close to training in psychotherapy, it was a blessing and a no-brainer for Robert to train in Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, as his unwavering passions in gongfu, qi gong, meditation and philosophy are integral to the fabric of Chinese Medicine, and he brings his experience of these disciplines to his practice.

Robert’s has practiced gongfu and qi gong for over 14 years, and after coming from an injury-plagued history of Australian Rules football, has used these arts (primarily baguazhang and taichi chuan) to heal, train and change. Fundamental to wellbeing is movement and posture so you can expect Robert to help you with posture, walking, breath and movement!

Our modern day world is full of pitfalls - stress, depression and anxiety are ubiquitous - and each individual, household, and family need support and guidance to navigate this terrain. In terms of our community’s healthcare, Robert understands the dire need for deep and principled holistic healthcare to be integrated into how we as a community understand the causes of illness and disease at large, and what strategies we deploy to navigate them. The holistic system of Chinese Medicine is capable of providing safe and effective treatment and very insightful diagnoses and understandings of many conditions (as well as helping navigate the stressors of life toward radiant health) and this, Robert believes strongly, can greatly help our community alongside and within our primary healthcare system.
