“My mission is to support all of my patients to live the most thriving versions of their lives - whether this is moving with less pain so you can play with your kids with ease, optimising your menstrual cycle to support your dreams of creating a family, or helping you get enough sleep so you can feel energised to take on all that life throws at you. A beautiful life is the sum of all its parts, and my job is to support you in getting those parts functioning at their highest potential”
MICHELLE SMITH
Registered Acupuncturist, Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, BHSc (Acupuncture)
Michelle (she/her) is a registered Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist (AHPRA). She completed her studies in Melbourne, Australia, and has furthered her studies in both Taiwan and China. Michelle has had access to some of the industry's leading mentors in Chinese medicine, and shares her gratitude to all of her teachers both in Australia and abroad.
In addition to being a Chinese medicine practitioner, Michelle is a yoga and meditation teacher. She believes in a whole body approach to health, and her treatment plans may incorporate movement and meditation to provide a holistic approach to your health goals.
Michelle's special interest in menstrual health and fertility began at a young age when she was first diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and was very abruptly told she would struggle to conceive. Feeling voiceless in that moment, this sparked a fire within Michelle to empower herself through education, and so began her journey towards optimising her menstrual cycle through diet, lifestyle, acupuncture and herbal medicine. As a practitioner, Michelle thrives on educating her clients about their cycle so they, too, can feel empowered in their health journey.
Michelle believes a healthy menstrual cycle is the foundation of fertility, as well as living in flow with one's cyclical nature. When we are in tune with our natural cycle, we are better equipped to lead, parent and live better. An optimised menstrual cycle has the power to enhance our creativity, mood, energy and live a life of greater ease and flow. She holds a special interest in fertility, as well as treating people with symptoms associated with endometriosis, PCOS, irregular or missing cycles, painful periods, and pelvic pain.
Michelle completed a hospital internship at the Tzu Chi hospital in Taipei, Taiwan, which seeded her intrigue for Tung style acupuncture. Michelle has furthered her education in this style of acupuncture and loves the versatility of Tung acupuncture from treating acute conditions to those of chronic nature. Michelle has also studied Daoist Medicine and Taiji in Wudang, China, and draws inspiration from classical Chinese medicine and Daoist philosophy.
Michelle believes everyone should be fully seen and heard by their health professional. She promises to be your cheerleader, advocate, and provide a safe space for healing. She is an LGBTQI+ and BIPIC ally as well as a HAES and trauma informed practitioner.
