“People often think I am a vegetarian, home birthing greeny because I am an acupuncturist! Yes, I am healthy, but I live in moderation and am realistic with my lifestyle. My advice and treatments are always unique to the individual in front of me; two people with the same health complaint will get a different diagnosis and an achievable plan suited to them.”
KERRY MARSHALL
Lic Ac, AHPRA, ANTA
Kerry has been a Registered Acupuncturist since 2005 and has over 20 years’ experience as complimentary therapist.
Travelling throughout Asia at age 20, Kerry found herself with food poisoning in Northern India. Visiting a Tibetan doctor, who took her pulse, looked at her tongue and prescribed her tiny balls of herbs to chew, she quickly felt well and more vital than she had been before. This was a tiny seed that would be nurtured and grow into her long career and passion.
Visiting friends in the UK in the early 90's Kerry soon realised she had found her people and called London home for 15 years. It was here that she enrolled at The College Of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, learning two styles of theory and practice, TCM and the 5 Element system.
Kerry's clinical experience has been prolific. While still at college she was trained in Auricula acupuncture treating in London detox centres, after graduating she gravitated towards women’s health, particularly fertility and pregnancy.
Learning very early from her mentors that holistic health care provided the best outcomes for her patients she began working alongside GP's, fertility specialists , Gynaecologists and Obstetricians in integrated clinics. Also treating her patients at hospitals and during labour and fertility procedures. She continues this approach today by seeking a network of like minded practitioners that she can refer to.
Kerry’s love for the birth space guided her to train as a Doula with the revered Obstetrician Michel Odent. He taught her how to be present and supportive in the birth space which led her to attend around 18 births. This experience has enriched her acupuncture practice, become an area of expertise and deep passion. Kerry loves preparing women for labour and nourishing the post partum journey.
Kerry moved back to Australia working in a busy Melbourne practice and set up two multibed clinics. Upon moving to The Peninsula, she became a step mum and then a mother. She joined the team at MCM and has worked here for the past 11 years treating all cycles of women's health. Teenage periods, to menopause symptoms and everything in between!
Throughout her career she has trained in and treated children but over the past three years she has done more extensive training in Paediatric acupuncture treating newborns to teens.
