Having additional testing done: what you need to know | Anna McMullen B.HSc CM

Here at MCM we combine the ancient practice of Chinese medicine with the latest knowledge of western scientific medicine. This means that from time to time, you may be asked to have some further testing done. This may include blood tests, sperm analysis, ultrasounds and more. We ask you to do this, as it gives us a more complete picture of your health.

No matter how many years we practice our diagnostic skills, we can’t tell you specifically what your iron levels are, or if you’re thyroid isn’t working optimally. We may have an inkling, but we need the actual test results to know for sure.

It is important you do this as soon as you can. The faster imbalances are detected, the faster they can be fixed.

You will most likely need to get a referral from a doctor, and in most cases you will need to have a follow up appointment with the doctor to get your results.

I believe it is always a good idea to have the doctor give you a print out of the results as well as copies of any films or images that were taken.

Regardless of whether the results are fine or not, these results belong to you, not to the doctor or to the clinic. It can be helpful to keep a copy for yourself for future reference.

If you have any questions about why your practitioner is suggesting you have some testing done, please ask. We are more than happy to explain why having them done is important for your treatment.
